Taurus
Taurus
Astro portrait

This month, we have arrived at the constellation of Taurus.
Taurus is the house of Venus, the ineffable star of love. Her stone is emerald, her metal is copper, and her color is green.
Venus, as the soul, resides within the heart chakra; she is the many manifestations of the feminine part of God: Sophia, Isis, Lakshmi, Quan Yin, Aphrodite, Mary Magdalene, and many others. Venus evokes the beautiful era. She is about being in the moment, seeing love, proclaiming love, and making love.
In the atmosphere of Taurus, the finely calibrated aesthetics and the art of living assumes enhanced meaning. Being Venusian in nature, Taurus celebrates life's timeless moments: a cozy interior scene, a flash of sunlight, a remembered melody, a face of someone loved.
Taurus pays attention to the senses and marvels at the impermanence of life, from a blossoming flower and its sweet smell to the Earth's revolution around the sun. Regarding this, a quotation from a well-known Taurean polymath Leonardo Da Vinci comes to mind:
“There are three classes of people: those who see, those who see when they are shown, and those who do not see.”
If we reflect on the context of this citation, we can deduct from it this - some people are visionaries, others need to be shown to be able to visualize, and the rest dismiss to see what they are shown unless it ties in with what they want to see. Da Vinci presents the following notion to highlight his Taurean astonishing powers of observation.
Taurus is a meticulous observer; they need time to mentally step back to
assimilate the environment and assess new ideas. Their works are not about hocus pocus; the stories about mythical dragons are lovely, but the questions that come to Taurus’s mind are: How to apply these stories to the here-and-now and how they serve the reality we are living.
Fixed Earth affirms the practical application of knowledge. They take knowledge to unravel the mysteries of life and the universe because they inherently know the principles of nature and how to apply them to different areas of their lives. If an Aries within our psyche represents the vision or an idea in the realm of the intellect, Taurus represents the application of concrete thinking, endurance, and stability needed to support the manifestation of this idea in the physical form.
In ancient lore, this sign is said to rule over the larynx and the neck. As it leaves the larynx, the air converts vocal sounds presenting to the world who we are and what we are like. Likewise, we find that the ‘voice’, both singing and speaking, has been affiliated with Taurus. Taurus rules everything about the voice: its pitch, its intensity, its emotional color, and its melodic path. The tone of their voice awakens and restarts the wonder of the sensible by touching what we consider most hidden within us.
We not only hear each other’s voices; we feel them too.
There is much more to it, though: when something is vocalized, it has a frequency that facilitates communication between the thyroid gland and the solar plexus chakra, activating or deactivating the solar fire that fuels our existence. That is to say, we create everything through thoughts and materialize it with words.
Moreover, there is an earthly ease to Taurus we all tend to admire. Taurus rules over the 2nd house of our human psyche, the house of our cherished objects, money, material desires, and the value we attach to these things and ourselves. Following that logic, theirs is the abundance mentality–the belief that there is plenty and more than enough for everyone.
Scarcity and an emotional outburst of demanding, whining, sulking, and yelling are not in their nature. Uncannily enough, they are pleased to sit quietly and patiently in their symbolic highchair and wait eagerly for the good things in life. It comes as little surprise, then, that the material rewards practically fall into their laps without them even having to try very hard. And although they are quiet on the surface, Taureans possess a stabilizing, productive, and purposeful will.
They have fixed values and a natural ability to labor, build, and make things grow.
Taurus appreciates the gifts of Earth and the Laws of Nature that govern our physical universe. This very act of appreciation acts as a target for their attraction.

In view of all the above, we invite you to move into the energy of Taurus by meditating over some verses from Walt Wittman’s poem. This poem emphasizes the relationship between the Earth, humans, and words.

A SONG OF THE ROLLING EARTH (1856)
Human bodies are words, myriads of words,
Air, soil, water, fire—those are words,
I myself am a word with them—my qualities interpenetrate with theirs.
Whoever you are! motion and reflection are especially for you,
Whoever you are! you are he or she for whom
the earth is solid and liquid.
No one can acquire for another—not one,
Not one can grow for another—not one.
The song is to the singer, and comes back most to him,
The teaching is to the teacher, and comes back most to him,
The murder is to the murderer, and comes back most to him,
The theft is to the thief, and comes back most to him,
The love is to the lover, and comes back most to him,
The gift is to the giver and comes back most to him—it cannot fail.
I swear there is no greatness or power that does not emulate those of the earth,
There can be no theory of any account unless
it corroborates the theory of the earth,
I swear I begin to see love with
sweeter spasms than that which
responds love, It is that which contains itself,
which never invites and never refuses.
The earth does not argue,
Is not pathetic, has no arrangements,
Does not scream, haste, persuade, threaten, promise,
Makes no discriminations, has no conceivable failures,
Closes nothing, refuses nothing, shuts none out,
The earth does not withhold, it is generous enough,
I swear I see what is better than to tell the best,
It is always to leave the best untold.
The best of the earth cannot be told anyhow.
